Most massage therapists choose to be self-employed, either on a part-time or a full-time basis. Some gain employed work in spas. Therapists work in complementary health clinics, physiotherapy/osteopathy/chiropractic practices, gyms/leisure centres, spas, hospitals, hospices, at their own home or visiting clients in their homes, or with sports teams/athletes. Many therapists choose to do a mixture of the above.
We are still available to answer any questions you may have even after you're qualified. You can join our ‘Find A Therapist’ website register. We send out any ‘work’ opportunities that are sent to us by people looking for massage therapists. We run Networking events exclusively for complementary therapists which is a great way to keep in touch with likeminded people, develop your massage practise and sometimes even to find more work . We also have a wide range of CPD workshops to help you further develop your skills.
Rest assured that by the time you've finished the course and you?ve put in the study time, you'll be ready to take the exam. We provide you with lots of exam-style questions and practise to help you, and we give you support and feedback on how you're doing.
For the Thai massage course, you'll need a comfortable mat or a duvet and a couple of cushions to practise on at home. For any of the other massage courses, it's a good idea to get a massage table for your own and your clients' comfort. You'll also need oils to massage with, and towels. For the aromatherapy course, you'll also need to get a range of essential oils for your home practice. For the Onsite Chair massage course, you'll need an onsite massage chair. For some of the exams you'll need a ‘uniform’.
For most courses all you need to bring with you is a towel and a pen. For the Thai and Onsite Chair Massage courses you won't need a towel. After your booking has been made, we'll send you a joining letter that will detail exactly what to bring with you.
